Manchester United go top of the WSL as they beat Arsenal ending Gunners’ perfect run

Manchester United have ended Arsenal’s perfect start to the season with a  superb performance to put them top of the WSL.

It was a frustrating first half for United as they were clearly the stronger side but couldn't convert any chances.

Their best effort came in the 28th minute as Christen Press found herself in a one-on-one with Arsenal keeper Manuela Zinsberger. Press took a shot but Zinsberger saved brilliantly.

Despite continued United pressure the clubs went into the break at 0-0.

In the second half United continued to threaten Arsenal but the Gunners started to grow into the match, their biggest chance being a near own goal from Amy Turner ax she tried to block a shot and United keeper Mary Earps kept it out.

United's patience paid off as in the 82nd minute Jess Sigsworth made a phenomenal break to pass to Ella Toone who squeezed the ball past Zinsberger.

A nail-biting last five minutes saw Arsenal have multiple chances to equalise but United’s defence held strong to earn them the win.
