Manchester United trigger one-year extensions for Fran Bentley and Kirsty Smith’s contracts

Manchester United have re-signed Kirsty Smith and Fran Bentley ahead of next season.

Both players have triggered a one-year extension in their contracts to remain at the WSL club until 2021.

Smith has made 36 appearances for United across all competitions and scored one goal.

While goalkeeper Bentley joined the side in the 2018/19 season but unfortunately missed out on most of the action this season due to an injury.

United manager Casey Stoney said: “I’m so pleased that we have Fran and Kirsty here for another season, they are both brilliant individuals who bring so much to the team.

"Fran was unlucky to pick up an injury on international duty before the start of last season but she has been working very hard since and it’s great to see her back on the grass again.

"Kirsty continues to be an important part of the squad, she was one of our most consistent performers before the season was cut short and I’m looking forward to seeing her push herself even further next season.”

This comes after the club re-signed Martha Harris and signed both German international Ivana Fuso and Spanish player Ona Batlle this week.
