Mighty Boosh star Noel Fielding sells painting of Ed Sheeran for nearly £1000

The Mighty Boosh star Noel Fielding has sold a painting of pop star Ed Sheeran for nearly £1000.

The 47 year-old Englishman gave up the portrait of the ‘Thinking Out Loud’ singer-songwriter at a virtual art exhibition for a grand total of £912.

It is the latest painting by Fielding after several other works including Michael Jackson and The Sex Pistols.

As reported by NME, Fielding said of his painting: "The characters I paint are often fantastical, usually half human half animal, strange magical beasts who roam my subconscious.

"It’s the same in my comedy – I’d rather play Old Gregg, a transexual Merman, than someone who exists in real life."

Fielding has been in the news recently for different reasons after his creation The Mighty Boosh was taken down from Netflix due to the programme containing sketches of people wearing blackface.

It is one of a number of British TV comedies to have been pulled due to the issue, with League of Gentleman, Little Britain and Come Fly With Me also being removed.
