‘No one can be more outraged than me’ - Jarrell Miller pleads innocence following fourth failed test

American heavyweight Jarrell Miller has said he is ‘outraged’ after testing positive for a banned substance for a fourth time.

The 31 year-old originally failed three tests in the lead up to his subsequently cancelled bout with Anthony Joshua in June last year.

And then last week it was confirmed he had returned another positive test in the lead up to his first comeback fight on July 9, which has since been cancelled.

Speaking to Fight Network, Miller said: "No-one can be more outraged than me. I am the one who has lost millions of dollars and has his career on the line.

"There is information that will come out eventually. I have made mistakes, big ones, losing financial rewards with the Joshua fight, which hit me hard. I know I messed up again with the world watching.

"But why the hell would you think I would go back and do something repeatedly, knowing that I'm coming back in my return fight with the financial setbacks and the hardship I am dealing with in my life?

"I want the general public to think about that."

It has not yet been decided what Miller’s punishment will be, but former world champion Anthony Crolla believes it should involve either a life ban or prison time.

Crolla told talkSPORT: "It’s laughable, and it’s not laughable. Because performance-enhancing drugs in a sport like boxing are dangerous. I believe they should carry some kind of prison sentence.

"God forbid the opponent on the receiving end takes ill, or is never the same again in life, or doesn’t even make it through.

“Ban him for life, you’ve got to ban him for life."
