Former Oasis songwriter and guitarist Noel Gallagher has revealed he lost a book of lyrics he had written for the band in the 1990s.

The 53 year-old recalls that during the early days of the iconic band’s rise to stardom they were turfed out of a Manchester hotel by police.

And as a result of being kicked out Noel left behind what could well have been a book filled with lyrical gold dust.

Speaking on friend Matt Morgan’s ’Funny How?’ podcast, he said: "I did lose a load of lyrics early on in Oasis. We got slung out of a hotel in Manchester – The Britannia, The Midland…one of those – by the police and a lyric book went missing.

“It has not surfaced, and it was in 1993 or 1994, so somebody has just launched it in a bin haven’t they?"

Oasis went on to released their first album ’Definitely Maybe’ in August 1994, with the record going on to become the fastest selling debut album in the UK at the time.

And just 14 months later that was followed up by ’(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?’ which launched them to global fame with singles such as ’Wonderwall’ and ’Don’t Look Back In Anger’.

The band would go on to release seven studio albums before they split up in 2009 following the release of their final record ’Dig Out Your Soul’.

The break-up came following a fight between Noel and his brother and lead singer Liam, a rivalry which had existed since the early days of the band’s formation and continues to this day.
