NWSL star Sydney Miramontez announces retirement at just 25

National Women's Soccer League player Sydney Miramontez has retired at the age of 25.

She has played for the Utah Royals since 2018 but was previously with FC Kansas City and GSI Pride.

She was also selected as part of the U23 US national side in 2017.

Miramontez, who has not given a reason for decision, tweeted: To play in the @NWSL has been an honor and to play for a club like @UtahRoyalsFC has been nothing short of a dream.

"Thank you to my family, team-mates, coaches, and fans for all of the love and support you have so graciously shown me throughout the years. What a ride it’s been."
