OL Reign and Wales international Jess Fishlock set to join Women’s Super League on-loan

OL Reign and Wales midfielder Jess Fishlock is reportedly set to join a Women’s Super League club on-loan.

The 33 year-old, who recently finished playing in the NWSL Challenge Cup in the US after 13 months out with a knee injury, is looking for a team to play with for five months while the American league is on a break.

Fishlock has been playing for Wales since 2006 (PA)

And she is said to have made her mind up that the WSL is where she will return to, according to BBC Sport.

However, the club she is joining has not yet been confirmed.

She said: "I am highly likely to sign with a WSL club and I am really excited about it. My main priority now is being at home with my family."

Fishlock has not played in the WSL since she enjoyed a second spell with Bristol Academy between 2011 and 2012.

The Cardiff-born player is Wales’ most capped player of all-time having played for the national team 113 times.

But she is under no illusions that it will still take her more game time to get her match sharpness back following more than a year on the sidelines.

"I'm probably at the same point with my knee with regards to returning to play as I was in February," she added.

"There hasn't been enough consistent training or playing matches for me to be able to say 'I'm okay'. That's the reality.

"It will need four or five games until I can say 'no worries'. I've played 70 minutes since February when I was fit again. It's been hard."
