Pictured: Manchester United defender Brandon Williams suffers HORRIFIC bloody cut after head collision in Southampton draw

Manchester United defender Brandon Williams was left bloodied and dazed after a nasty head clash in his side’s draw with Southampton on Monday night.

The 19-year-old replaced Luke Shaw in the 75th minute at Old Trafford as the Red Devils looked to see out a 2-1 lead.

But in the final minute of normal time Williams went up for a header with Saints defender Kyle Walker-Peters, a challenge which left both men on the deck.

Walker-Peters eventually got back to his feet, but Williams was left a bloody mess on the floor and had to come off.

This left the hosts with just ten men as manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had already used his three available substitution slots.

Speaking to MUTV after the match about Williams’ cut, Solskjaer said: "I can't say [really], I've not seen Brandon because he was with the medical staff and I think he was getting some stitches with a gash over his eye.

"So let's see how he is."

Meanwhile, Obafemi’s late goal means United stay in fifth rather than climbing to third which they would have done had they held on for the win.

And while Solskjaer remains optimistic about his team’s form, he also admitted they did not deserve the victory over a defiant Saints side.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: "It’s the worst time to concede a goal but then that happens in football, you’ve just got to be strong and take it because we’ve won so many games that way ourselves.

"It’s all part of the learning for this team, to be sat there really disappointed after you think you’ve got the three points in the bag but probably we didn’t deserve three points."
