Pink mocks Donald Trump as he fails to sell-out venue for Tulsa rally
US singer Pink has mocked Donald Trump after he failed to sell-out his Tulsa rally venue with supporters.
The US president’s first campaign rally to take place since the coronavirus pandemic began, was set to sell-out the 19,000 capacity BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, but he was instead met with empty seats.
It went ahead despite concerns about the rally being held during the pandemic.
The three-time Grammy winner took to Twitter to mock Trump, who had claimed earlier this week that almost one million people had requested tickets for the event.
The 40 year-old, who has played at the venue in the past, said: “I think I sold that same place out in five minutes. #donkeyshow.”
In the background she added: “I don't know, there's a lot of people dressed as seats. Maybe they're in catering.”
But her comments were soon met with criticism by Trump supporters, as one wrote: “No, that theory would be that the pandemic played a part in it. Does that work, has been?”
However the singer said she would 'never ask people to come to an arena during the crisis’.
She said: “Here’s my theory; don’t hurt the people that love you. I would never ask people to come to an arena right now. No good person would.”
The crowds were so unexpectedly small that Trump’s campaign ended up cancelling a speech for the ‘overflow’ crowd because there weren’t enough supporters.
