Rafiuke Taylor to captain Wales as squad is announced for inaugural rugby league international against England

A 23-person squad has been announced for Wales women's first ever rugby league match against England Lions on Saturday.

Coach Craig Taylor has also named Rafiuke Taylor captain for the landmark game at St Helens.

The Cardiff-born firefighter made history as Wales' first ever dual-code international having also been capped by the rugby union side.

Wales played against Great Britain Teachers on October 26 in a match which was not classified as a full international, and were beaten 30-6.

Speaking about their clash with England, Taylor said: “It’s an historic day in rugby league, it’s the first women’s international between England and Wales.

"This in itself shows the rapid growth and expansion of the female game. Whatever the result, women’s rugby league will be the winner. I hope that a good day is had by all, and I wish both sets of players good luck."

The game kicks off at 4pm on Saturday, November 16.
