Ricky Gervais hits out at celebrities complaining in their mansions during Covid-19 while NHS staff put own lives at risk

Comedian Ricky Gervais has slammed celebrities for whining in their mansions about self-isolating while NHS staff are putting their lives at risk to help battle coronavirus.

"[NHS staff] are doing 14-hour shifts and not complaining. Wearing masks, and being left with sores, after risking their own health and their families' health selflessly," Gervais told The Sun exclusively.

"But then I see someone complaining about being in a mansion with a swimming pool. And, you know, honestly, I just don't want to hear it."

The 58 year-old's comments came after UK singer Sam Smith broke down last month about the crisis on social media as he self-isolates in his £12 million house.

Gervais says celebrities should quit whining and should be clapping and cheering on the NHS every Thursday evening.

Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan shared his reaction on Twitter and wrote: "Get a grip, the lot of you. This is a war, not an Instagram story op."
