Skateboarder Sky Brown grabs ice cream with Tony Hawk to celebrate discharge from hospital following life-threatening crash

British skateboarder Sky Brown has left hospital after an horrific accident -  and celebrated by going for an ice cream with skateboarding legend Tony Hawk.

Sky, 11, was rushed to hospital in a helicopter after a life-threatening crash in training on Thursday left her unresponsive with a fractured skull and broken left wrist and hand.

Hawk, 52, described the crash as ’the worst fall one could take from a vert ramp’ and hailed Sky’s speedy recovery as ’nothing short of a miracle’.

He said he joined the young star for a sugar fix to mark the achievement and shared a message to help her on her way back to the sport.

“Stay strong Sky,” he wrote. "Thank you for inspiring us with your unbroken spirit.

“And please take your time getting back to full capacities…we’ll gladly wait for you,” he said.

The young skater has also left fans feeling positive after she posted a video of her dancing in her bedroom to Kelly Clarkson’s ’What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger’.

Alongside the video she wrote: “I’m back home and I’m not allowed to Skate for a bit. So I made up a new dance I’m coming back stronger.”
