Soccer star Christen Press ‘NOT taking part' in NWSL’s Challenge Cup

Utah Royals forward Christen Press is reportedly not going to take part in the National Women’s Soccer League’s Challenge Cup.

The tournament is due to start on June 27 with 25 games taking place over 30 days in Utah.

According to the Salt Lake Tribune, Press is opting out from playing and she did not return to training this week.

Some good news for Royals fans is that forward Kelley O’Hara did return to training ahead of the cup.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the league has said players are not obliged to take part.

Players who do opt out will still get paid for the season and will receive full medical and housing benefits.

US captain and OL Reign player Megan Rapinoe has already opted out of playing in the tournament, according to her club coach.
