Tina Turner returns to music as she works on remix with Kygo of classic song ‘What’s Love Got To Do With It’

Pop icon Tina Turner is coming out of retirement to make a remix of her classic song ‘What’s Love Got To Do With It?’ with DJ Kygo.

Kygo announced the news on his social media and confirmed the track, which was originally released in 1984, will be available this Friday.

He wrote: “Can’t believe I’m releasing a collab with @LoveTinaTurner this Friday!

"‘What’s Love Got To Do With It’ is one of my all time favorite songs, and it feels surreal to get the opportunity to work with such a legendary artist! Can’t wait for you all to hear it”

Turner last released music in 1999 with her album Twenty Four Seven and she last toured in 2009.

The 80 year-old has said she is ‘happily retired’ as she told The New York Times last year: "I don't sing. I don't dance. I don’t dress up."

But it seems she has made an exception for the DJ, who’s real name is Kyrre Gørvell-Dahll.

Kygo’s biggest track to date is a remix he made of Whitney Houston’s version of the song ‘Higher Love’ which he released last year.

The remix gave Houston, who died in 2012, her first posthumous hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
