Women’s Super League club Everton have re-signed Tinja-Riikka Korpela in a one-year deal.

The goalkeeper signed for the Toffees last summer from Norwegian club Valerenga and has since made 11 appearances in the WSL for the side.

The Finland international tweeted about her re-signing, saying: "Very delighted and super excited to sign one more year with @evertonwomen"

She made a string of exceptional saves in Everton’s match at Anfield against Liverpool back in November which helped secure the 1-0 win over their Merseyside rivals.

But despite a victory over the Reds, Everton could only manage a mid-table finish in the WSL this season.

The Football Association announced last week they had finished in sixth after they won six out of the 14 matches they played.

The league will return for its next season in September.
