TV's Holby City donates working ventilators to the NHS Nightingale hospital

BBC medical drama Holby City has donated ventilators to the new Nightingale hospital in London.

The amount of ventilators and why there was working medical equipment on set has not been disclosed.

The news was announced on the BBC Studios Twitter account with the show's executive producer Simon Harper saying they 'wanted to help the courageous and selfless real-life medics'.

Production on the hit drama has been suspended during the pandemic.

Last month, both Holby City and the BBC's other medical drama Casualty said they would donate equipment to the NHS.

The BBC chose the Nightingale hospital as it is near to their Elstree studios in Hertfordshire. The hospital was built at the ExCeL centre in just nine days.

The first patients to be treated there arrived on Friday.
