United States striker Alex Morgan wants to play at 2020 Olympics despite expecting baby in April

United States soccer star Alex Morgan wants to play at the 2020 Olympic Games despite expecting the birth of her first child just months earlier.

The 30-year-old, who finished joint top scorer at the 2019 Women's World Cup, announced last month that she is having a daughter with her husband, LA Galaxy star Servando Carrasco, in April.

And while it will require a swift recovery from the birth, Morgan is confident she will be fit to play in Japan.

She said: "It's my goal to play there.

"It's clearly a short window but if I'm able to, I want to be there representing my country."

The Orlando Pride forward has been a prolific servant for her country over the years, scoring 107 times in 169 appearances.

And she has been a part of both of USA's World Cup-winning runs in 2015 and 2019 - the country's third and fourth triumphs at the competition.
