US actor Danny Hicks dies aged 68 just four weeks after revealing stage four cancer diagnosis

Evil Dead II actor Danny Hicks has died at the age of 68 just four weeks after revealing he had stage four cancer.

The news was announced by his company Full Empire Promotions.

Hicks has died from cancer at 68 (PA)

Alongside a reel of his performances they posted on YouTube, they wrote: “Danny passed away at his home in CA. We love you Danny, rest easy my friend. No more pain.”

The company also wrote: "On June 30, 2020 we lost a friend, client, and talent actor in Danny Hicks.

“Here is our tribute to the star of Evil Dead 2, Intruder, Darkman, and so many other classic horror films. We will miss you Danny!”

Early last month Hicks took to Facebook to tell fans about his cancer diagnosis.

He wrote: "To all of the people that I never got to meet, and the 6,018 die hard fans that enjoyed my work. I have some bad news.

"I have been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. I have approximately 1 to 3 years to live. I gotta tell ya, I sure as hell packed a whole bunch of living into my 68 years.

“I got no change coming back that's for sure. And not too many regrets. Ok, gotta go. I'm gunna find out just what in the hell is going on down in that fruit cellar."

The joke at the end of his post referred to how his character in Evil Dead II died.

Hicks is known for his work with director Sam Raimi, including Evil Dead II. He also starred alongside Liam Neeson in Raimi’s 1990 thriller Darkman.

His most recent work included 2013’s Oz the Great and Powerful and 2019’s The Blood Hunter.
