US international Sam Mewis to sign for Manchester City, with team-mate Rose Lavelle possibly joining too

US international Sam Mewis is set to head to Women’s Super League side Manchester City on a one-year deal, the Athletic has reported. 

The 27 year-old is currently playing in the National Women’s Soccer League with North Carolina Courage, where she has made 53 appearances. 

She has also made her way through the youth ranks at national level, before making her senior debut in 2014.

Mewis has since earned 67 caps and was part of the squad who won the 2019 World Cup.

US international and NWSL star Rose Lavelle is set to follow her US teammate and also sign with City on a one-year contract.

The 25 year-old midfielder has spent the last two seasons with Washington Spirit where she has made 17 appearances. 

She was also part of the 2019 World Cup-winning squad and has earned 45 caps.
