No Grands Prix will take place in the US, Mexico or Brazil this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The US has been the country worst-hit by the virus with more than four million positive coronavirus cases.

Brazil has the second highest number of COVID-19 cases at nearly 2.3 million, with Mexico seventh at 370,000.

As a result, Formula 1 officials believe it would be irresponsible to stage the races in those countries.

The US GP was scheduled for October 23 in Austin, Texas followed by the Mexico City GP just seven days later.

And the Brazilian GP was set for Sao Paulo on November 13, but now all three countries have had those weekends abandoned.

Three more European races are going to be added to the 2020 calendar in order to ensure the season is not shortened.

These three races will take place at Germany's Nurburgring, Italy’s Imola and Portugal's Portimao.

The potential for re-scheduling a Canadian GP after it was postponed in June have also been dropped due to travel restrictions in the country making it impossible.

F1 organisers recognise it is unlikely a full season will go ahead but they are hopeful of a 16 race calendar.
