US rapper FBG Duck shot dead in broad daylight ‘drive-by shooting’ in Chicago

US rapper FBG Duck has been shot dead in broad daylight in a ‘drive-by shooting’ while he was out shopping in Chicago.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the 26 year-old was standing outside a shop in the city’s Gold Coast neighbourhood on Tuesday afternoon.

It has been reported the rising rap star suffered gunshot wounds to his chest, groin and neck and was later pronounced dead at the Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

A spokesperson for the Chicago Police Department confirmed that a number of people stepped out of a car and opened fire.

Both a 26-year-old woman and 36-year-old man were taken to nearby hospitals and are in a serious condition after also being hit.

FBG Duck was best known for his 2018 hit single ‘Slide’ and last year released a song dedicated to rappers who have been killed from gun violence.

YouTuber DJ Akademiks said on Twitter: "BREAKING: FBG DUCK pronounced dead at hospital after being shot in downtown Chicago."

Former Chicago mayoral candidate Ja’Mal Green said: “Popular rapper FBG Duck has just been pronounced dead after being shot in the Gold Coast an hour ago.

“Prayers up for his family, bring justice to them after this senseless act.”

Fans have since paid tribute to the star on social media, as one wrote: “Yoooo. @FBG_DUCK dead. Man I’m tore up. Rip my man.”
