US soccer player Megan Rapinoe has hit out at the National Women's Soccer League after they released a statement concerning coronavirus.

The league, which is due to start on April 18, has ruled that team training will not go ahead until March 22. 

The men's MLS season is currently suspended.

The NWSL released a statement which read: "The NWSL has extended its team training moratorium for all of its clubs through Sunday, March 22, 2020. 

"During this training moratorium, all NWSL players are expected to remain in their respective markets."

Rapinoe put the statement on her Instagram story and criticised the word 'markets'.

She argued that players should be self-isolating.

"Markets!? More like stay in your APARTMENTS/ HOUSES!!! Practise social distancing. Don't be a vector."

The league has not yet responded.
