US Tennis Association announces prize money for 2020 US Open
The prize money for the 2020 US Open will total $53.4 million, the US Tennis Association announced.
The Grand Slam event is the first major to take place since the coronavirus pandemic and will be staged behind-closed-doors.
Men and women in the first-round draw will receive an increase of $61,000 in prize money from $58,000.
Prize money for the winners in the second and third-round draw will remain unchanged, and the winner of both the men and women’s singles competition will receive $3,000,000, while the runners-up will get $1,500,000.
USTA have also allocated $7.6 million towards players who have been hit financially by COVID-19.
The 2020 US Open is set to begin on August 31 and will take place at Flushing Meadows in New York City.
