US women's soccer team's equal pay trial postponed due to outbreak

The US women's soccer team will have to wait for their day in court after their trial date was postponed.

The team are suing their governing body US Soccer for equal pay and they were originally due in court on May 5.

However, due to the global pandemic, the date has been delayed until June 16.

The side are seeking over $50 million in damages as they argue the men's side would have been paid more if they had been as successful as them.

Former US Soccer boss Carlos Cordeiro fuelled the fire last month after he said the men get paid more as they have more responsibility and are 'more skilful'. He then resigned over the comment.
