Utah Royals’ Gunnhildur Jónsdóttir goes on loan to play in Iceland

Utah Royals FC player Gunnhildur Jónsdóttir will go on loan to Icelandic club Valur Women’s Football for three months.

Jónsdóttir will play a part in the end of their Úrvalsdeild kvenna season.

The midfielder has played for Royals since they were formed in 2017 and has made more appearances, 52,  than any other player.

The loan deal marks the first time since 2012 that she has played in her own country. She played for Stjarnan FC for four years and won the Iceland Women’s Cup in 2012.

Royals recently announced the contract extension of rookie Marissa Sheva until the end of the year.
