West Ham’s Julia Simic leaves club to join AC Milan

German midfielder Julia Simic has left Women’s Super League club West Ham to join Italian side AC Milan.

Simic spent two years at the Hammers, making 22 appearances and scoring three goals across all competitions. In her time at the club she didn’t have much game time as she was out of contention for a year due to a knee injury.

She said: "I am not going to be a part of West Ham next season and that’s really hard for me to announce. I can’t really remember feeling so welcomed or integrated into a team or a club in the last few years like I did at West Ham.

“I wish I could say goodbye in a different way but this is what it is at the moment. One thing is for sure, I will always be a Hammer.”

Her departure comes less than a month until the WSL’s next season begins on September 5.

The Hammers’ first match is a London derby against Tottenham Hotspur on September 6.
