Women’s FA Cup Final: Everton 1-3 Manchester City - Holders defend FA Cup in thrilling game

Six months after the original date for the final, Willie Kirk’s Toffees will be looking to dethrone Gareth Taylor’s defending champions in what would be their first FA Cup triumph in a decade.

Meanwhile, City are bidding to lift the trophy for a third time in four years and would move level with Charlton as the fourth most successful team in the competition’s history with a win.

Everton 0-0 Manchester City

5 min: City have started the game very brightly here. There is a lot of space for Kelly to run at Everton in between the lines and that Toffees backline looks a little concerned about her speed.

Willie Kirk’s side seem nervous at the moment, they need to get a grip of the occasion quickly before they find themselves behind.

Everton 0-0 Manchester City

2 min: Lucy Bronze makes a gut-bursting run down the right early on but it’s eventually cut out. Everton have barely had a touch of the ball in the opening couple of minutes here.

Kelly runs at her former club and tries to get a shot off on the edge of the area but it’s tamely into the arms of MacIver.

Chloe Kelly (left of the photo) starts for Manchester City against her former club Everton. She helped the Toffees reach the latter stages of the FA Cup before lockdown and now comes up against them at Wembley today.

Bizarre but intriguing.

Who do you fancy today?

Manchester City will probably be most peoples favourites for today’s game. They have experience winning the trophy and already beat Everton 3-1 earlier this month in the League Cup.

But Everton are five points above City in the Women’s Super League after a phenomenal start to the 2020-21 campaign, so it promises to be a hotly-contested match this afternoon.

Bronze going for gold

England’s Lucy Bronze is back at Wembley and hoping to win the FA Cup with Manchester City today. Could she prove key today?
