Wuhan prepares to loosen restrictions as China enters self-proclaimed 'post corona' phase

Officials have announced that the Chinese city of Wuhan, the epicentre of the coronavirus outbreak, will loosen its movement restrictions from April 8.

Travel restrictions across the rest of the Hubei province will be lifted for healthy residents, after the country reported almost a week with no new domestic cases.

However, a single case was today reported but authorities have assured the public that this was a patient who had travelled from abroad.

Wuhan has been closed to the rest of the world since mid-January but officials have now said anyone who has a "green" code (to prove their health) on a smartphone health app that is being used, will be permitted to leave the city.
