Declan Rudd doubtful for Preston’s Championship opener

11 September 2020

Preston goalkeeper Declan Rudd is doubtful for the home game against Swansea.

Rudd, who featured in every league game last season, has not appeared in any of Preston’s pre-season friendlies after sustaining an unspecified injury and will be assessed ahead of the Sky Bet Championship contest.

Striker Louis Moult remains unavailable as he continues to work his way back from a knee injury which has kept him out for a year.

Otherwise, boss Alex Neil, who has so far made no summer signings, has a fully-fit squad to choose from.

Swansea will be without injured midfielder George Byers, who is manager Steve Cooper’s only absentee.

Byers, who became a father for the first time this week, has not recovered from a groin injury.

Swansea will also be without midfielder Bersant Celina, who was sold to Ligue 1 side Dijon this week.

Connor Roberts and Ben Cabano have both returned from international duty with Wales, the latter making his full debut in their Nations League win against Finland.
