Blackpool have signed midfielder Ethan Robson from Sunderland on a two-year deal.

The 23-year-old came through the Black Cats’ academy having joined the club in 2004 but has made only a handful of first-team appearances and spent much of the last two seasons on loan at Dundee and Grimsby.

Robson is the Seasiders’ sixth summer signing and says he is excited by the club’s vision under manager Neil Critchley.

“It wasn’t an easy decision to leave Sunderland, which is where I’ve grown up and developed over the years,” he told Blackpool’s website.

“But, after speaking to Neil Critchley and hearing what he had to say about the team and where he wants to take it, I felt it was a journey I wanted to be a part of.

“Blackpool is on the up, and I’m looking forward to seeing what the future brings here.”
