Keith Curle could be short of seven Cobblers on League One return

11 September 2020

Northampton boss Keith Curle could be without up to seven players for their first Sky Bet League One match since winning promotion against AFC Wimbledon.

Harry Smith, Luka Racic and Joseph Mills were all recalled early by Curle during Northampton’s 3-1 defeat to MK Dons in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday, and the extent of their injuries is not yet known.

Nicky Adams, Shaun McWilliams and Scott Pollock have been ruled out for the match however, with a knock, a long-term knee injury and a groin problem respectively.

Joe Nuttall could be in line for his Cobblers debut after joining from Blackpool, although he suffered a minor knock so missed both cup matches.

AFC Wimbledon manager Glyn Hodges will be without Ollie Palmer and Jack Rudoni.

Palmer has been making progress in his recovery from a groin injury, but the boss does not want to take chances on his fitness.

Rudoni sustained a concussion during a pre-season match against Corinthian Casuals and will not have recovered in time for the league opener.

Otherwise Hodges has a fully fit squad to choose from.
