Kieffer Moore set for Cardiff debut

10 September 2020

Cardiff could hand debuts to Kieffer Moore and Sheyi Ojo in the Sky Bet Championship clash with Sheffield Wednesday.

Striker Moore, a summer signing from Wigan, missed last weekend’s Carabao Cup loss at Northampton as he was on international duty with Wales, while winger Ojo has joined on a season-long loan from Liverpool.

Wales midfielder Will Vaulks and versatile Scotland international Callum Paterson also return to contention after representing their countries, but Northern Ireland midfielder Gavin Whyte faces a fitness test on a hamstring problem.

Lee Tomlin and Joe Ralls have trained this week after being absent for the Cobblers cup tie with injuries. Long-term absentee Isaac Vassell is back running again but will not be considered.

Wednesday, who begin the season on minus 12 points after breaking spending rules, could field recent recruit Elias Kachunga in south Wales.

Forward Kachunga, signed following his release by Huddersfield, was not involved in last weekend’s cup clash at Walsall but has been in full training this week.

Defender Liam Palmer is back in contention after returning from international duty with Scotland, while Owls boss Garry Monk must decide between Cameron Dawson and Joe Wildsmith in goal.

Osaze Urhoghide is close to returning from his injury problem, but fellow defender Chey Dunkley, who suffered a fractured tibia and fibula playing for former club Wigan in February, remains sidelined.
