Bayern Munich forced to apologise to Manchester City after prematurely announcing Leroy Sane signing

Bayern Munich have apologised to Manchester City after posting pictures of new signing Leroy Sane on their website before the transfer was officially completed.

The images, which reportedly appeared on the Arabic version of the website, showed the German winger signing his contract with the Bundesliga champions.

Bayern immediately offered an apology to the Premier League club for the lack of professionalism.

Manchester City are said to have accepted the apology.

Meanwhile, Sane’s first interview as a Bayern player was shared on all official channels on Friday morning.

Speaking about his decision to move to the German champions, Sane told the club website: "FC Bayern is a great club with big goals – and these goals suit me as well. I’m looking forward to the new challenge and can’t wait to train with the team.

"I'm looking forward to everyone. We played together in the youth national teams, I played together with Leon [Goretzka] at Schalke. They're all great guys.

"In general they said that there are good guys in the whole team. I think we have a very good mix here, too. There are lots of experienced players, lots of young players. Everyone is very hungry. So, I'm looking forward to it all and can't wait to train with the team.

"For me, the goals are actually quite clearly to win as many trophies as possible, and the Champions League is of course right at the top. I haven't won it yet and I think everyone dreams of the Champions League. And that's why it is of course a big goal."

City manager Pep Guardiola was magnanimous in bidding farewell to Sane, who has only made one appearance for the club this season.

He said: "We wish Leroy all the best in this new chapter of his career.

"Leroy has been part of one of the most special periods in this club’s history and he leaves with the best wishes of everyone here at Manchester City."
