Boxer Anthony Yarde pleads with people to 'stay at home' after losing second family member within a week to coronavirus

Boxer Anthony Yarde has made a heartfelt plea to people to 'stay at home' after losing a second family member to coronavirus.

His grandmother died on Thursday, just days after he lost his father, both of whom contracted the virus.

The 28 year-old wrote on Twitter: "It's serious! People are still going out when they don't need to.

"I know there's a lot of opinions about COVID-19 and I have mine, but I just know opinions ain't worth risking your life and others.

"Just stay home."

His promoter Frank Warren added: "We can’t begin to imagine what Anthony and his family are going through and our sincere condolences go out to them.

"Please listen to his heartfelt personal plea, stay at home to save lives."

Yarde's next fight has been rescheduled from April 11 to July 11 when he faces fellow Brit Lyndon Arthur.
