British Racing Legend Sir Stirling Moss dies following long battle with illness

British sporting icon and racing legend, Sir Stirling Moss, died this morning at has died aged 90 at his home in Mayfair.

The 90-year-old, who is hailed as one of the greatest drivers of all time, had his wife  Lady Moss by his side.

She told the Daily Mail: 'He died as he lived, looking wonderful.'

Moss won 212 of his 529 races in every type of car available to compete in, but notably never won the Formula One World Championship title and between the years of 1955 and 1961, was four times runner-up and came third three times.

He was first admitted to hospital in 2016 with a severe chest infection and has since battled illness, which caused him to retire from public life in 2018.
