Champions League and Europa League finals postponed for a month

This season's Champions League and Europa League finals have been postponed by a month as UEFA continues to step up its response to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Champions League final in Istanbul, which was scheduled for May 30, will now be played on June 27.

And the Europa League final has also been moved by four weeks from May 27 to June 24 as COVID-19 hits yet another part of the sporting calendar.

The news comes on the same days as the announcement that the European Championships has been postponed for a full year and will now be played in June and July of 2021.

All of Europe's domestic leagues have postponed their campaigns, with the Premier League set to have a crisis meeting on Thursday to discuss the potential of further measures which will go beyond the current statement that football could resume in England on April 3.

Over 7000 people have now died of the coronavirus - 55 of whom are from the UK.
