Bauer blow for Preston ahead of Wycombe clash

04 December 2020

Preston boss Alex Neil is without defender Patrick Bauer following the Achilles injury he sustained in the midweek win at Bournemouth.

Bauer requires an operation and Neil has confirmed the German will be ruled out for the rest of the season, starting with Saturday’s game against Wycombe.

Preston are also without fellow defender Darnell Fisher who serves the last of his three-match ban.

Andrew Hughes, Josh Earl, Paul Gallagher, Louis Moult and Billy Bodin all remain sidelined.

Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth will check on Curtis Thompson and Dominic Gape who missed the midweek loss to Stoke.

Thompson was forced off early against Derby last weekend, while Gape has now been absent for the last two matches.

Jason McCarthy also faces a late fitness test after he was withdrawn midway through the Stoke loss with an apparent shoulder injury.

Ainsworth could be tempted to hand Adebayo Akinfenwa a start after the veteran striker made an impact from the bench in the last two games.
