Blackpool have announced the signing of Kevin Stewart on an 18-month contract.

The 27-year-old midfielder was released by Hull at the end of last season, having joined from Liverpool in a deal reported to be worth up to £8million in 2017. Andy Robertson headed in the opposite direction at the same time.

Stewart made 78 appearances in total for the KCOM Stadium club but was let go following their relegation to Sky Bet League One.

“I obviously know the gaffer (Neil Critchley) well because I was in the Liverpool academy at the same time that he was,” Stewart told the club’s website.

“We have very similar ideas and very similar ways of playing. I understand what he likes, and he knows what I’m good at and how I like to play.

“This is definitely a good fit and it’s great for me to have somebody like that.”

Critchley added: “He’s an experienced addition, capable of playing in different positions, and will be a big asset for us moving forward.”
