Former Tottenham striker Jurgen Klinsmann has told Harry Kane to stay at the north London side because he believes he has the chance to win trophies with the club.

Kane has been the focal point of Spurs’ attack in recent seasons and has been around the first team set-up since coming through the youth team and making his debut in August 2011.

And while he has been deprived of silverware while proving himself as one of the best goal scorers in the world, Klinsmann feels he should stick by the Lilywhites rather than doing what he did when he left for Bayern Munich.

Speaking to The Sun, he said: "He can achieve anything he puts his mind to. He’s so, so talented, exceptional and he’s now into a stage of his career where he is far more mature. He’s not the young lad anymore, even if you think of him as a young player.

"Watching him from a distance, you wish him now titles. Tottenham have not won anything since League Cup glory in 2008.

"That’s why I left in ’95. Even though I loved it at White Hart Lane, I had to leave for Bayern Munich because I said, ‘well I’m running out of time. I’m 31 years old and I need to win a couple more trophies’.

"But he has that chance with Spurs, he has a fantastic coach, he has a fantastic team and we all keep our fingers crossed that it happens sooner rather than later."

Kane has scored 181 goals in 278 appearances for Spurs and has netted 24 times or more in each of the last five full seasons.

He has also helped Tottenham qualify for the Champions League in each of the last four seasons, including their run to the final in 2019.

However, the club are still without a trophy since their 2008 League Cup triumph and are unable to win any silverware this season due to their eighth place in the Premier League and exits from the Champions League and FA Cup.
