Lenell John-Lewis is looking forward to linking back up with manager Paul Hurst for a third time after returning to Grimsby

The 31-year-old striker has rejoined Grimsby on a contract until the summer of 2022 after Town agreed a deal with Hereford, where John-Lewis had scored 13 goals in all competitions this season.

John-Lewis made over 100 appearances for Grimsby between 2013 and 2015 before moving on to Newport, and he is delighted to be back at Blundell Park and to once again work with his former Mariners and Shrewsbury boss Hurst.

He told gtfc.co.uk: “It’s really good (to be back). It’s also nice to see so many familiar faces, it’s just like home and like I have never been away.

“I played under the gaffer a couple of times already now and when I know there’s interest there from him, it’s a no-brainer for me, he always seems to get the best out of me.

“I trust him and I think for him to want to sign me, it’s always a massive confidence boost for me and he must trust me so that goes a long way. ”

Manager Hurst said: “I am looking forward to reuniting with him for the third time and everyone can be reassured that he will be putting on that shirt and giving everything”.
