Ryan Christie admits Celtic players are ‘gutted’ to lose their title to Rangers

Ryan Christie admits Celtic players are “gutted” to lose their Scottish Premiership title to Rangers but insists the Hoops dynasty is not over for good.

The nine in a row Parkhead side’s goalless draw against Dundee United at Tannadice on Sunday confirmed the Light Blues as champions for the first time in 10 years.

Christie insists the Hoops are determined to wrest the title back from Govan next season.

The Scotland attacker said: “It’s obviously not how we wanted the season to go. We started the season looking to defend our title and so we’re all gutted.

“But we can only look forward now, for us, we don’t see it as it being over, it’s just a blip and we want to come back even stronger and go again.

“We’re always critical of ourselves and we’ll be the first people to admit when performances haven’t been good enough.

“We didn’t get the three points on Sunday but it wasn’t down to a bad performance, it was just down to not taking chances.

“We look to bounce back and come back stronger. John Kennedy (interim boss) touched on that, trying to get that mindset back.

“That’s what champions do. When you face a blip, you face adversity, you bounce back from it and try to get back on top again.

“That’s the mentality we need, no doubt about that. Everyone is ready to bounce back.”
