Stephane Omeonga admits the next three games will decide whether or not Livingston have had a good season.

The Lions are battling to secure a top-six berth and are currently seventh in the cinch Premiership, one point behind sixth-placed Hibernian and two behind fifth-placed St Mirren.

Livingston have three games to play before the split – against Motherwell, St Johnstone and Dundee United – and midfielder Omeonga admits it will be a huge disappointment if they do not earn the right to play out the season among the top teams in the country.

“The season’s being going quite well I think but I think we will see in three games,” he said. “We can talk as much as we want but if we don’t make the top six we will all be disappointed.

“From where we are right now, I think whether we make the top six or not will probably decide whether it’s been a good season.

“I would be lying if I said ‘it’s fine if we don’t make top six because we are Livingston’. You need to aim for bigger things. We find ourselves in a great position so why not have big ambitions.

“This is the biggest period of the season for us. This Saturday could be the biggest game of the season but we will probably say the same thing the week after. These three games are very big and we need to take points.”

Last weekend’s 3-0 defeat away to St Mirren means Livingston’s top-six fate is no longer mathematically in their own hands as they prepare to head to on-form Motherwell this weekend.

However, Omeonga has studied the fixtures and believes both St Mirren and Hibs have the potential to drop points, so he feels they remain well on track to achieve their objective.

“Last weekend was a missed opportunity against a direct opponent (for the top six) but it’s not the end of the world because there are still three games and I think if we win those three games we will make the top six,” he explained. “We forget about last week and make sure we bounce back this weekend.

“If you look at the other teams’ fixtures, we still believe that the top six is in our hands if we win these games, but we need to win them.”
