Hearts owner Ann Budge confirms club will take legal action if current Scottish Premiership standings are final

Hearts owner Ann Budge has confirmed the club will take legal action if the standings in the Scottish Premiership are declared final.

The league is currently suspended due to the coronavirus and if the league is called off, and the standings are final, Hearts will be relegated to the Championship.

The Scottish Premiership are expected to make a decision on what happens to the league this week.

When asked if she would take legal action, Budge said: "Yes, I would have to. Because I fundamentally disagree.

“Well it depends on how you read the rules, and I don’t read the rules that way.

“Clearly we all know that we have not played 38 games so I don’t think it’s as simple as somebody can say ‘let’s just deem everything to be as it is and take it from there’. I don’t think that’s reasonable.

“I’d love to be able to finish the season but if we can’t then I think we need to be pragmatic about it and take a view on premature ending."
