LIVE: Premier League returns: Manchester City 3-0 Arsenal - Sterling, De Bruyne and Foden score as Luiz gives away penalty and shown red card
The Premier League is back this evening after three months in hiding due to the coronavirus pandemic.
We will bring you all the key updates of the first match as Sheffield United travel to Aston Villa, before bringing you extensive updates on Manchester City v Arsenal later tonight.
Aston Villa V Sheffield United
A minute’s silence to remember those who have lost their lives during this pandemic. A dreadful, dreadful loss.
And the NHS
The players also have a blue logo on the front of their shirts to represent their appreciation for the NHS.
Support for BLM movement
Michael Oliver will get us underway here. A strange moment for the officials as well as the players.
Let’s not forget, all the players are wearing ‘Black Lives Matter’ on their shirts tonight, so Oliver will have to pay extra attention to which number goes in his book.
NEARLY TIME
The Premier League is nearly back. It’s been a long road to here since the last match at the King Power Stadium on March.
But we’re almost ready.
Anybody?
The most pointless sign so far?
Blades on the charge?
Meanwhile for the visitors, they are just five points off Chelsea in fourth place as they look to clinch what would be a truly unbelievable Champions League place.
Wilder’s men won three of their last four league matches before the pandemic, so will be raring to carry on that form today.
Back to business
It’s worth mentioning that while most of us are giddy with excitement, this remains a huge game for both teams.
For Villa, they currently sit two points off safety, second bottom of the Premier League on 25 points.
A win tonight would lift them out of the relegation zone and up to 16th.
Black Lives Matter
Both sets of players currently warming up with Black Lives Matter tops on. A show of support from the Premier League’s players for a movement that has swept the globe.
Villa Park glistening
It’s safe to say Villa are psyched to be playing host to the first match back.
Here are some shots of Villa Park as it awaits the return of action tonight - a historic night in the Premier League’s history, I’m sure we can all agree.
