Tottenham striker Harry Kane insists there 'needs to be a limit' to when the Premier League resumes if the domestic season is to be finished.

All elite football in England is currently suspended until April 30, but Euro 2020 has been postponed meaning the Premier League could resume in the summer.

But Kane, who is still recovering from a hamstring injury he picked up on New Year's Day, believes the end of June is realistically the latest the campaign can get back underway.

Speaking to Jamie Redknapp in an Instagram Live video, he said: “It's a hard one. I know the Premier League will do everything they can to finish the season.

“My personal opinion, I think we need to try and finish the season, but there needs to be a point where we say enough's enough and we need to finish it... going into July/August.

“There needs to be a limit. The limit for me is the end of June. Then we have to look at the options and look ahead to next season.”

Tottenham currently sit eighth in the table, seven points behind fourth place Chelsea with nine games to go.

But if the Premier League is made null and void then Spurs would retain their Champions League qualification place by virtue of finishing fourth last season.

There will be further meetings between the Premier League, EFL and PFA this week to determine what will happen to the remainder of the 2019/20 campaign.
