Two-weight world champion Roger Mayweather, uncle and coach to legendary fighter Floyd Mayweather, dies aged 58

Former boxing world champion Roger Mayweather, uncle and coach to legendary fighter Floyd Mayweather, has died at the age of 58.

Roger Mayweather held world titles in the featherweight and lightweight divisions in the 1980s and began working with his nephew in the 1990s.

Floyd then went on to win 50 fights and retire undefeated, a feat that has seen him widely regarded as one of the best boxers of all-time.

The cause of Roger's death has not yet been disclosed.

Mayweather Promotions released a statement which read: "We are saddened with the recent news of Roger Mayweather's passing.

"Our hearts go out to the Mayweather family and we will keep you in our thoughts and prayers. We thank you all for the outpouring of love and support during this time. Roger's spirit lives on with us forever."

Roger's death is the second tragedy the Mayweather family has had to cope with recently after the mother of Floyd's children, Josie Harris, was found dead in her car on March 11.
