World heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has revealed he has lost 'close friends' during the coronavirus pandemic.

The 30 year-old, who is awaiting news on whether his fight with Kubrat Pulev will go ahead on June 20 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, went into self-isolation after meeting Prince Charles at the Commonwealth Day Service two weeks before he tested positive.

And now the boxing superstar has come out to wish all of those suffering with the illness his best wishes, along with condolences to people who have lost loved ones in a similar way to himself.

Speaking in a video posted to social media, he said: "To the people who are suffering with coronavirus, I wish you a speedy recovery because it is no joke. We haven't found no cure or antidote for it right now so I'm wishing you guys a speedy recovery.

"And to the ones who have suffered and lost loved ones due to the coronavirus, I want to say keep your head up. You've got my love, blessings to you and your family and condolences.

"I've lost no-one immediate to me, but I've lost close ones from my boxing gym, close friends, friends of friends and it gets serious when it starts coming closer to home. So, I want to send you my condolences and my love.

And to all the NHS workers man, we appreciate you. We take you for granted, but we really do appreciate you and honour what you're doing being on the frontline."
