GB sailors in the medals at Tokyo test event

Great Britain have won two silver and two bronze medals on the first day of racing at the Olympic test event in Japan.

Anna Burnet and John Gimson claimed silver in the Nacra 17 class while Nikki Boniface and Ben Saxton managed to edge the bronze.

Burnet was somewhat disappointed with her positioning but is optimistic ahead of next year's Olympics saying: "When I think about it and it all sinks in I'm sure I'll be very happy to take a silver medal from the Tokyo 2020 test event."

Female duo Charlotte Dobson and Saskia Tidey claimed a bronze in the 49er FX  and Dylan Fletcher and Stu Bithell won the silver in the 49er.

Great Britain had six boats in the hunt for medals in total. Olympic champion Hannah Mills alongside Eilidh McIntyre currently sit in second place just one point from the top spot in the Women's 470 heading into the medal race.

Elsewhere, Emma Wilson finished fourth overall in the RS: X after a second place finish in the medal race while Tom Squires could only manage fifth in the men's RSX event.

The other medal races still to come are the women's 49er FX, men's 470 and the men's Finn and Laser.
