Eleven-year-old Sky Brown is on the verge of becoming Team GB's youngest ever Olympian as she prepares for the Tokyo 2020 Games, but reveals she had to persuade her parents to let her compete.

"We weren't going to do the Olympics. My parents thought it was too much pressure," said the young star.

"Then Team GB, Lucy Adams (Skateboard GB chair) she said that like there was no pressure, just get out there, have fun. 

"And that's more like the way I skate," she added.

She admits she relied on Adams for support and to help her convince her parents, saying: "So, I was just calling her a lot and I was begging my parents too, like 'can I be in the Olympics, please'?"

The hard graft eventually paid off and 'finally they said yes', said Brown.

She remains very level-headed for someone so young. When asked about her Olympic prospects she said: "I mean it would be cool to get the gold medal. 

"I'm going to try my best, but I know... I'm just going to have fun and try my best.''

Brown, whose father is English and mother is Japanese, will be competing for Team GB, something she is excited and proud of: "I get to be in my mom's country because she's Japanese and Japan is where I was born, where I grew up. 

"It's basically like my home and my favourite food. And I also get to compete for my dad's country. So, I think that's going to be really cool.''
