Port Vale have signed midfielder Danny Whitehead on a two-year deal after his Salford contract was terminated by mutual consent.

The 26-year-old enjoyed a loan spell at Macclesfield during the 2019-20 campaign.

“He’s very energetic, a good footballer – he’ll be another good addition to an already strong midfield,” Vale boss John Askey told the club’s official website.

“He’ll have to compete with the rest of the players, he’s a solid player who has proved himself at this level – in recent years he’s had two promotions so hopefully he can get in the side and keep his place.”
